Be prepared for the cost of your driving test to go up in April. All parts of the driving test will be affected. So the theory test will rise by £1.50 and then be £30.00 and practical driving test will go up to £56.50 an increase of £8.00.

Those looking to pass their motorcycle test will be the most affected, this will rise from £60.00 to £80.00 in September this year.

The DSA have confirmed the price rises and said that they as a driving standards agency have costs that they need to cover when they provide driving and motorcycle tests to learner drivers in the UK.

It is now well known that the driving test comprises two parts, the practical driving test for which you will be prepared through your series of driving lessons, and the theory part of the driving test.

We recommend that if you have not already done so, you should obtain and read the Highway Code upon which the theory part of the test relates. Your theory tests is in two parts and comprises a multiple choice test of 50 questions, and hazard perception test utilising video clips from which you will have to identify 15 hazards.

Your chosen driving instructor will, of course help prepare you, but you should use as much resource material that is available through bookshops and the DSA online bookstore. Driving Theory Test Updated

It’s a special day in the driving world today. From this date the driving theory test has changed. For starters there will be more multiple choice questions an increase from 35 to 50. The increase in driving theory test questions is designed to raise the standard of drivers and promote road safety and other benefits.

Candidates taking the theory test will need to achieve a pass mark of at least 43 correct responses out of 50 with a maximum time allocated of 57 minutes to complete the multiple choice questions part of the theory test. The fee for the test has also increased from £21.50 to £28.50. So when booking your online driving theory test you will be made aware of the increase in test time and price information.
